The History of Greenshades

Green Shades Software, Inc. creates, sells, and supports software that helps businesses run more smoothly. We are headquartered in Jacksonville, FL and spend our time solving back-office problems for our clients. We were founded as a Christian company and do our best to conduct business in an ethical fashion, standing behind our products and treating our clients with respect and understanding. We began in 1992 as a reseller of an accounting system called Great Plains.

After seeing the individual needs of our clients, we discovered our true passion was in creating software to help patch the holes within Great Plains instead of simply reselling someone else's work. In 1996 we created our first piece of software that was intended to be sold to anyone using the Great Plains system, even companies that were not our clients at the time. This software tackled the job of creating and sending quarterly magnetic-media tax reports to state governments-- a job that was even less fun than it sounds. This effort was met with great success and it has evolved over the years into our Greenshades Center software solution. The Greenshades Center has grown into the flagship of our offerings and is used by thousands of companies across the world to assist them with their quarterly taxes.

Today, Greenshades provides a wide range of solutions to help HR and Payroll controllers run a modern business. We still have strong tax-based offerings, specializing in the electronic reporting of dozens of types of payroll taxes to government agencies around the world. We also provide software to print W-2s, 1099s and more for distribution to employees and vendors as well as offering the option to print and mail forms on behalf of our clients. Our internet offerings include portals where employees can view their paystubs online and perform many self-service options. We also have solutions that help with some of the finer details of payroll: calculating PTO balances based on any corporate policy and deducting garnishments according to state regulations.

Looking to the future, our focus remains fixed on continuing to satisfy our current clients who have trusted us with so much of their businesses. We are still excited about the prospect of problem-solving for any companies that come our way, and we expect the steady growth that we have experienced over the past decade to continue for years to come.
